Copenhagen
Denmark’s capital sits proudly astride the coastal islands of Zealand and Amager. The city’s historic centre, Indre By, is home to the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace, Christiansborg Palace and the Renaissance-era Rosenborg Castle, home to the crown jewels.
Voted by Lonely Planet as #1 City To Visit In 2019, there are an abundance of old buildings and historic structures to visit. Other top attractions for tourists include the famous Little Mermaid sculpture on Langelinje Pier, the quayside at Nyhavn, the shopping area of Stroget and the theme parks of Dyrehavsbakken (shortened by locals to Bakken – can’t think why!)
