You won’t find many international shopping chains here, maybe because people don’t have much money to spend. Instead you’ll find countless markets, family stores, and shops that demonstrate the shear creativity of its inhabitants. The amount of free things to do is astonishing; from live-music, city-park exercise classes, the city even has a ‘greeter’ programme, where locals will show travellers around the city. Most Argentines enjoy life outdoors, sharing time with friends and meetings new ones. They tend to get by on caffeine rather than sleep, and you might find a night out doesn’t get busy until 11pm at the earliest.
Beautiful, defiant and alive, Buenos Aires will win you over with its street-side tango, the aromas of its diverse food, and its shear joyous humanity. Watched over by the mighty Andes, it’s a city that will win over an unsuspecting traveller, and a city break unlike any other.
