Adelaide

Often overshadowed by Sydney or Melbourne, the capital of South Australia has a lot going for it. Cheaper prices and less traffic for one thing. From the ocean to the outback, this state has some of the country’s most beautiful natural treasures, and they’re all easily accessible from Adelaide.

Hop to Kangaroo Island, check out the ‘amphitheatre’ of outback mountains in the Flinders Ranges, of spend a day ‘sun-baking’ at the selection of city beaches, which are far superior to the more famous beaches of Bondi. Take a trek up the leafy Adelaide Hills, try samples at the best wineries in the country, or hang out at the ancient German settlement town of Hahndorf for schnitzel and locally-produced chocolate and cheese.

Cultured and casual, you’ll find a melting-pot of influences represented in Adelaide’s restaurants, arts and live-music scene, and huge numbers of hip bars tucked away in lanes. Regular voted as one of the top 10 most liveable cities in the world, Adelaide deserves a lot more travel-cred than it currently receives and we’d definitely recommend a visit.
