India

A land of contrasts, full of colour, aroma and spices, India is said to be as much an experience as it is a place. Locals will welcome you will open arms, and a smile from a visitor will mean a lot to them. As a sub-continent, a visit to each state will feel like a completely different country, with different cultures, landscapes and languages.

Most travellers head straight to tourist-friendly Goa for a laid-back vibe, bustling bazaars, and some spectacular tropical beaches around the Arabian Sea. But elsewhere, visitors will be struck more by the affordability – you can find dinner for less than a pound in some places, and travel within the country is extremely affordable (just watch out for ‘tourist’ prices from dishonest vendors). Head to ‘God’s Own Country’, the lush Kerala in southern India, for the jungle wildlife. Up north, you’ll find the start of the Himalayas, whilst Agra is where you’ll find the majestic Taj Mahal.

A trip to India may well be the Marmite of the travelling world. You’ll love it or hate it with a passion. Personally, we love it. The stories you’ll collect, the people you’ll meet, the experiences you have will be unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. Give it a shot. It might just be your new favourite destination.
