Egypt
More formally known as the Arab Republic of Egypt, this mystical and ancient country spans continents by joining northeast Africa to Southwest Asia.
People visiting Egypt will have certain expectations before they arrive. Desert heat. Pyramids. The Nile. What might surprise you is the vastness. The warmth of the people. The pride in their history, which is recorded as far back as 7,000BC. For the key sights, you’ll want to visit Giza and Luxor, but a stay at capital Cairo will open your eyes to a whole new, modern, side of Egypt you may not have considered.
Note: Whilst we always recommend vigilance and caution when travelling, areas in Egypt are particularly affected by the ongoing threat of terrorism. The reduction in holidaymakers is driving down prices (and beefing up security), so now may well be a good time to go, as you’ll be experiencing some of the world’s biggest destinations with less crowding, and putting money into their tourism industry when they desperately need it.
That being said, we always ask our clients to check the latest travel and safety updates via the Foreign Office before booking any holiday, which you can do here - www.fco.gov.uk
